The 3 Best Places For Wine And Cheese Near Mount Hotham

The 3 Best Places For Wine And Cheese Near Mount Hotham

Finding the best places to enjoy some wine and cheese is an essential, especially when it comes to indulging in a luxurious getaway in the mountains. No matter if you’re a wine connoisseur or a newbie to the cheese and wine scene, here are three of our favourite luxe picks for you to savour.

Provenance Restaurant and Accommodation - 86 Ford Street, Beechworth, Victoria, 3747

At almost 5 stars (including 2 Chef’s hats), this luxurious venue has it all. Located in Beechworth, the history and success of this establishment is self-explanatory. The menu itself is endless and elegant, with a variety of cheese plates on offer. Each option includes three selections, such as Tarrawingee, goats milk, and a decadent blend of hard/ soft cheeses. Another popular choice is the 'Optional Cheese Course' which can be enjoyed with a matching premium wine.

Chrismont - 251 Upper King River Rd, Cheshunt VIC 3678

Chrismont Restaurant and Larder is a one of a kind. With modern dining and a simplistic menu, the options are truly endless. The menu changes with the seasons, so there is always something new to try. We recommend the ‘King Antipasto Platter' and any of the fine wines on the menu. Our personal favourite is the 'La Zona Barbera,' which contains blackberry, plums, and aromatic spices.

Dal Zotto Wines - 4861 Wangaratta-Whitfield Rd, Whitfield VIC 3733

Did someone say wine club? While other wineries and restaurants do have wine clubs, the one at Dal Zotto is one of a kind. Their wine club is their family, and when you become apart of La Famiglia, there is special access to the latest wine releases, private tastings, special dinners, and much, much more. Another option is their restaurant, Cellar Door/Trattoria, which uses the freshest ingredients for their one of a kind dishes.

Winterluxe Insider Tip: For an “experience” and for some of the best White Port you can find in Australia stop into Markwood Estate. This micro vineyard was established in 1971 and is truly one of a kind. Expect dirt roads, farm gates, a picturesque landscape, and ensure you leave with at least one bottle of liquid gold.

Markwood Estate - 135 Morris Lane, Markwood, Victoria 3678
